About NiceCite
NiceCite audit methodology · reviewed by the NiceCite team
NiceCite is an autonomous AI citation audit platform. We help marketing teams, SEO consultants, founders, and in-house content teams understand exactly how answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews see their websites — and what to change so those engines start citing them as the answer.
Why we built NiceCite
Traditional SEO tools were built to optimize for blue-link search results. They count keywords, backlinks, and rankings. None of that matches how large language models pick which sources to quote. LLMs reward clear entity definition, structured data, direct answers, fresh evidence, and authoritative trust signals. Most websites are still built for the old web — a homepage hero with vague copy, a contact form, and very little machine-readable structure.
NiceCite exists because the gap between "ranks on Google" and "gets cited by an answer engine" is now huge — and growing. AI Overviews, Perplexity, ChatGPT Browse, Gemini, and Claude all decide who appears in their answers using signals most SEO dashboards do not even measure. We measure those signals, score them honestly, and tell you what to fix in priority order.
Who NiceCite is for
NiceCite is built for teams that need to win in answer engines: B2B SaaS companies, local service businesses, e-commerce stores, agencies running AEO/GEO programs for clients, content marketers, and founders launching new products into AI-saturated categories. If you have ever asked "why does ChatGPT recommend my competitor and not us?" — this is for you.
How the agents work
A NiceCite audit deploys a small crew of autonomous agents. Scout discovers your sitemap, robots, and most important URLs. Sage extracts each page's title, meta, headings, body content, JSON-LD blocks (including those nested inside @graph), Open Graph data, internal/external links, contact info, and FAQ markers. Nova scores six categories that map to how answer engines actually rank sources: Answer Readiness, Entity Clarity, Schema & Structured Data, Trust & Citation Signals, Content Coverage, and Technical Accessibility. Echo turns the findings into prioritized recommendations — quick wins, strategic improvements, and nice-to-haves. Vera writes the executive summary and shareable PDF. Pulse keeps the run consistent so two audits of the same site produce the same score.
Every metric you see in a NiceCite report is either a measured fact from your live crawl or an AI-assisted recommendation derived from those facts. We label which is which. We do not invent traffic, backlinks, or citation counts. We do not pad your score because you signed up.
Our no-BS philosophy
NiceCite is allergic to fake stats. If your homepage has thin content, the report will say so. If your site has no Organization schema, no FAQ section, and no About page, the report will say so — even if the site is ours. We score our own domain through the exact same pipeline as everyone else's. If our score is low, that's a roadmap, not an embarrassment.
We never guarantee rankings in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Google AI Overviews. Nobody can. What we guarantee is a deterministic, evidence-based score and a fix list built from what your site actually contains today.
Measured vs. AI-assisted
Measured: pages crawled, word counts, headings, meta presence, canonical tags, JSON-LD types detected (flattened across @graph), robots and sitemap status, FAQ markers, social profile links, contact info, and per-category scores. These come directly from the HTTP response and the HTML we parsed.
AI-assisted: the executive summary, the prioritized recommendations, copy suggestions, FAQ drafts, schema templates, and the 30-day follow-up plan. These are built by language models on top of the measured facts and are clearly labeled as recommendations rather than measurements.
Company
NiceCite is remote-first. We are a small, focused team building one product: the most honest AI citation audit on the internet. We do not sell your audit data, we do not resell crawl results, and we do not pad reports with vanity metrics.
